Southwest

In high school, Willa Cather's Death Comes for the Archbishop was one of my favorite books.  I had been to Lamy, NM and was fascinated by the fact that this great little book dealt with a landscape I knew and loved.  Cather's descriptions of the American Southwest are moving and intense.  They really bring me back to the rainy afternoons of my childhood.  So we are starting here in the Southwest to see Acoma Pueblo, which made a lasting impression on Cather when she traveled through New Mexico.  We will also visit La Fonda hotel, where Cather lived when she wrote Death Comes for the Archbishop.
